COMPASS for the Caregiver

Caregiving in its many forms can be challenging. It can affect you socially, mentally and physically. COMPASS is a supportive multi-session workshop facilitated by someone who understands how challenging caregiving can be. We discuss dealing with guilt and grief, managing stress, improving communication, navigating the health care system and planning for the journey ahead.

Making a transition of any sort can be difficult – but when you have to weigh out staying in your home or moving to an alternate living environment, it can be especially hard. Gain insight and confidence into the best decision for you and your circumstances.

Taking Action Against Elder Abuse Workshop
Adults 18 and over
The purpose of this workshop is to examine the issue of elder abuse in Alberta and outline the various ways in which front-line staff may respond to suspected cases of abuse. We will clarify the expectations of front-line staff, and discuss how to recognize and respond to potential and ongoing situations of abuse. We will also acknowledge in-depth complexities surrounding elder abuse and outline approaches to risk assessment, in order to ensure consistent, effective and professional responses to specific incidences of abuse.
